Why smells stick around here
San Bernardino summers bake everything. Wood, insulation, drywall — once animal urine or a carcass soaks in, the heat pushes that smell deeper and spreads it further. Skunk spray can sit in concrete for months if it isn’t treated properly. Rodent urine dries into crystals that don’t just stink, they tell the next wave of rodents “this place is safe.”
We’ve been in apartments near CSUSB where a dead opossum in the crawl space made an entire building smell like rotten onions. Same with older homes near the foothills — bats in the attic, raccoons under the deck, and the smell hangs until someone gets hands-on.
